Why a re-wire could solve your electrical issues.
Have you ever had it when a few sockets stop working? Or more commonly a section of lights stop working? If so then a home re-wire might be on the cards for your property!
When we carry out a home re-wire, all electrical connections are made behind the sockets, switches and lights which makes them accessible. The ways of re-wiring a home these days are far different from what used to be. When a home was wired back in the 60's and 70's it was common to install a really big joint box for the lighting circuits. These joint boxes were usually located under the floorboards but knowing exactly where was near impossible. The issues with the older styles of joint boxes is that over time the connections come loose and then suddenly you're without a light in a specific room or a number of lights.
When we re-wire a home these days we make all the connections accessible so if there ever is an issue it makes it a lot easier to find the faulty connection. Even when we do use joint boxes we must now use something called 'maintenance free' joints, these usually consist of a spring loaded connection in a joint box that holds all the connections shut.
If you have wiring form the 70's or 80's then you should consider rewiring your home.
