How to know if you're due a home re-wire

Old and faulty wiring can be a hidden issue in many homes, especially those built over 30 years ago or on those that have had poor DIY work carried out by 'someone who knows electrics'. Sometimes the best case solution is to re-wire your home. Old and wiring will not always require a home re-wire but it may have faults that are not visible, the signs of wear and tear can show up various ways, things like sockets that get warm to the touch. Sockets or lights that occasionally stop working or random tripping of your fuseboard. These issues not only signal potential faults but they could also mean your electrical wiring is ageing and that your home may need to be re-wired in the future.
Over time, the materials used in electrical systems degrade, and older wiring may not meet latest regulations. For example, homes built before the 1960's may still have rubber-insulated wiring or homes with 70's wiring might not have an earth on the lights or there might be evidence of 'Green goo', both signs that you should at least re-wire the affected circuits. An electrical re-wire will replace these outdated wiring systems, ensuring your home is significantly safer.
If you live in Bath or West Wiltshire and are dealing with frequent electrical issues or suspect your wiring may be outdated, it’s worth considering a re-wire as a proactive step.
